Thesis: Due to the amount of consumption in America companies are now experts in persuading consumers to buy their products, everyday Americans are becoming greedy and materialistic, and people are allowing “things” to rule their lives working hard to stay updated with the newest “thing” that comes out. So when is enough, enough?
I.To begin with, companies are using secret tactics to make it easier to persuade a person into consuming their products.
A.) There are signs that show how companies are designing their stores to bring in consumers.
B.) Companies use surveys or social networks like Facebook to stay updated with what consumers like.
II. Secondly, America is the land of opportunity, growth and more have become the vision of most consumers.
A.) Laurence Shames the author of “ The More Factor”, describes how throughout history America and Americans have come to strengthen consumption in America and how the idea of having more began.
B.) People are ambitious and materialistic, with companies updating products people want to keep up to date.
C.) With all the new products that come out yearly, consumers are forgetting when enough is enough.
III. Lastly, consumer consumption is destroying traditional daily lives, and "things" are controlling peoples lives.
